About Us
Neurodan develops novel implantable devices which restore functionality to patients with central nerve damage through the application of Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) and Neuro-Muscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES). These technologies replace central nerve signalling.
The company originates from the internationally recognized Center for Sensory-Motor Interaction (SMI) at Aalborg University, Denmark and was established in 1994 by Dr. Thomas Sinkjær and Dr. Morten Haugland.

Change of management
Dr. Jesper Nielsen, Managing Director of Neurodan AS, has decided to leave his position at Neurodan A/S for personal reasons and, as a result, will be leaving Neurodan end of March 2010. It is much to our regret that Mr. Nielsen has decided to leave the company and we wish him the very best in his future professional career.
Through Mr. Nielsen’s dedication it has been possible to transform Neurodan from a university spin-off into a professional organization. Mr. Nielsen has built up an extremely professional management team in Aalborg. Thanks to his calm and considered approach, he was always able to master difficult situations.
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Monika Rakos has been appointed to the position of Managing Director of Neurodan from April 2010. Dr. Rakos has been with Otto Bock for ten years during which time she has successfully built up the Neurostimulation division in Otto Bock, Vienna.
